Spark Duo
Kate Amrine and Ford Fourqurean are Spark Duo, performing new premieres for clarinet and trumpet, mixing solos, duos, improvisations, and live electronics. They are actively expanding the repertoire with new premieres slated through 2021 and 2022. In early 2020, they perform in New York and on tour visiting Arizona State University, University of New Mexico, University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University and the Interference Series. They have actively commissioned a large repertoire of new works for them using both multimedia and interactive electronics. In past seasons, they toured Upstate New York and Vermont performing at Superior Merchandise in Troy and on The Community of Sound series in Burlington.
Kate and Ford both have active careers performing in New York City and across the United States. Ford regularly gives guest artist performances and lectures with his groups Unheard-of//Ensemble and Amalgama as well as freelancing in New York. Kate is extremely dedicated to commissioning and performing new music, premiering over 30 pieces both as a soloist and a chamber musician. Her debut album “As I Am” was released in Fall 2017, featuring new music by women composers. Kate’s second album of music inspired by politics and social concepts is due for release in late 2019.
